The story of this Legong based on Arjuna Wiwaha written by Empu Kanwa, in the 13th century. In the shadow puppet story (pewayangan), while meditating Arjuna also called as Begawan Mintaraga. The gamelan arrangement of the opening scene before Arjuna meditating was adapted from the piece of “Nocturne”, of the compositions of Colin McPhee.
The Legong Mintaraga was the last dance which performed on that evening. All audiences were really enthusiasm and giving high appreciation.
What an experience and pride for me, as one musician from the younger generation had a chance to play gamelan accompanying all great dancers, Maestros. My hope, or perhaps the hope most of my fellow young musicians, that all generations would be always keeping alive the authentic Peliatan’s style, as A Tribute to Anak Agung Gde Mandera and Gusti Made Sengog. Our greatest Gurus!
